The TellingStory Fund will be a fund of up to €30,000 per year (subject to funding being secured) for the next two years, which will be administered by Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival, with the support of The Centre for Social Action Media. The funds will be awarded, through a process of submission, pre-selection and pitching, to three documentary projects a year that have a social or environmental focus. The TellingStory Fund grants will be production grants, not development grants, and will be awarded to projects where the making of a documentary film could amplify their social or environmental impact.
Through the use of creative and innovative documentary film methods, the selected projects must address entrenched social or environmental problems in Ireland, and seek to raise awareness and understanding of these issues and the underlying global issues impacting on Ireland.
The pitching for the TellingStory Fund will take place at Guth Gafa 2012 and 2013, and the selection panel will consist of international industry experts, social entrepreneurs, and representatives from the Irish film and television industries. The Fund will encourage the building of networks and partnerships between the independent film and television sector, broadcasters and other public agencies.
Deadlines and Submission Criteria will be announced in Autumn of 2011, and will be available on the SAM Centre website and on the Guth Gafa website here.
